heritage and we’re inviting you to celebrate with us at the
Jacksonville Museum of Military History on Saturday May 29th.
Did you know there was a Civil War Battle right here in
Jacksonville? Did you know that during WWII Jacksonville was
home to the Arkansas Ordinance Plant and produced over 85% of
all the detonators and fuses used during WWII? Or that the
Little Rock Air Force Base was once home to the largest nuclear
missile ever deployed. Come visit the Jacksonville Museum of

-
21 Jul: Potluck/Meeting
hosted by Jerome & Marsha Jones Casey and Lewis & Molly Anderson (Greenland - near Fayetteville
- at the Baptist Ford Community Church) Directions: From Hwy. 540 take Exit 58 and turn
East (watch your speed from here to the church!!!) If you were
north-bound turn right. If you were south bound - turn left
and continue under the bridge. Follow West Wilson Street
(you're on it) down the hill, over the rail road tracks to the 4-way
stop light. When stopped at the light you'll be directly
across from the Greenland School. Turn south on South Main Ave
(Hwy 71) - stay in the right hand lane. Hwy 71 parallels the
rail road tracks - they should be on your right. Head
south on 71 until you approach a sweeping left-hand curve.
You'll see a small road that goes straight off 71 - take this road
(it parallels the rail road tracks). You'll see a sign for
Baptist Ford Community Church. This is kind of a bumpy,
concrete road. Follow it over the iron bridge to the church.
If you miss this turn don't panic - the road you need to be on comes
back into Hwy. 71. Just make a hard right turn on to it and
you'll see the church on your left. Any questions, problems or
anything call Marsha's mobile #479.841.1489 or Jerome's mobile

?? Nov:
The Van Buren Veteran's Parade:
(Van Buren)
The Veteran's Day Parade begins at the Van Buren Courthouse around 6
PM.. It is almost totally unorganized, with participants pretty much
mixed in together. You don't want to be in front of the ambulances.
I have had good luck in getting a position by being there at 5 PM,
no later than 5:30 PM. The parade runs rain or shine. The route runs
from the Courthouse East up Main Street and ends at the Baptist
Church. It's a heck of a lot of fun, but ya gotta' be flexible.
The crowds love us. Jim Starbird
